Post Modern Frame of "Tawaraya Boxing Ring"
"Memphis Group" pushes the boundaries of a bed/lounge as this is no ordinary bed/lounge that you
see when you walk into a furniture shop. The materials have been pushed to the
limit as when you think of a lounge/bed you think of yourself sitting and
sleeping on comfortable material, but the materials used in this lounge/bed are the complete opposite
as "The Memphis Group" used metal, rubber and wood to create this bed. You can see it's not your average
bed/lounge. The obvious standout is it's boxing ring theme. When you think of going out to buy a bed you don't
think you'll come across a boxing ring which is the frame for a bed. Memphis Group has really overpowered the
knowledge of their targeted audiences as people don't expect to come across a piece of furniture which is so
extraordinary and original, it will change the views of how people relate and act towards their sculptures.
The process of this sculpture would have also been very different in which a normal bed/lounge would have
been made.
This sculpture took a whole year to perfect and look as amazing as it does today and ordinary beds only take weeks to make which are then transported to local stores, ready to be purchased. This tells you that furniture is made the same and is created many times but this sculpture the "Tawaraya Boxing Ring Bed" is one of a kind, used many DIFFERENT materials and is priceless to the public eye to see.
Everyone knows when they need a new bed, lounge or any furniture for their household you head
down to your nearest store like "Fantastic Furniture". But the "Tawaraya Boxing
Ring Bed" is no other piece of furniture you can find anywhere especially your
nearest furniture shop. This sculpture is a monumental piece of art that is
showcased in Paris at the "Azzedine Alaia's Gallery" where tourists can behold
the sculpture but can't touch or go near it which is quite different to how you
test a lounge at the furniture shop. Another boundary "The Memphis Group" push
is the audience they are trying to target. This sculpture is aimed at children
as the theme of a boxing ring relates more to them then it does parents.
Its fun and joyful and creates excitement when children see it, but when parents tell their children
"Its time to go furniture shopping' there reaction is a sign of boredom and lack of
enthusiasm which I think "The Memphis Group" is trying to create when they
formed this Post Modern sculpture of a bed.
