The Memphis Design Group
The Memphis design group consisted of Italian designers and architects who created a series of amazing and unusual sculptures in the 1980's. This group of designers pushed the boundaries of line, colour, texture and shape which gave them the edge they needed to be known as designers that think outside the box.
The Memphis group was founded in 1981, but not all members joined at this time but evolved throughout the years. The leading member of the group was Ettore Sottsass and also consited of Marco Zanini, AAldo Cubuc, Martine, George Sowden, Matteo Thun and De Lucchi. Ettore called Memphis design the 'New International Style' as he thought his group of designers would create style and originality for people to admirer.
