Discussion of my Work
The sculpture I have chosen to create is a table. When you think of a table you think of your ordinary materials like glass or metal but I have pushed those boundaries and used wood and tree logs. To create a more fun and quirky approach to my design I have painted the tree logs with bright and cheerful colours that create happiness and cheer. I came across this idea when looking through a "Better Homes and Gardens" magazine and saw their version of the table I have now made my own. The concept of this design is to allow people to sit down and be able to look at my sculpture and feel happy while they are sitting together with friends. The materials I have used to create this sculpture are tree logs, wood and a shelf that I found in clean up week that I gave some tender love and care to. Now what's a table without chairs? To use a table you need to be able to sit on chairs, but instead of creating your average chairs I have used logs that I found from the nature area and painted the tops with colours that blend with the table and written sayings that allow people to read before they sit. The design features of this is original and quirky that create a fun feel to the area in which my sculptures are being placed. All the materials I have used are simple and plain but create a strong effect to the design layout I had planned and allow the students of Engadine High to enjoy them.
